Welcome to installment 5 of Columbus Marketing jobs. I hope spring is off to a lovely start for everyone.

A few general observations about the job market lately:
) Roles are starting to shift more towards valuing implementation, and less towards strategy. I feel like (again, broadly speaking) hirers find it more appealing to have a player/coach on their roster, rather than a strategist
) Networks win. My friend Bill (someone with decades in the Columbus marketing scene, and past podcast guest) made an amazing post this week saying:

This may seem “out of touch” or inactionable, and you can't build old new friends. but what we all can do is take place in the daily actions that create referral opportunities.
A good example of this is meeting people on LinkedIn.

When I was first laid off, I would make it a point to send at least 25 messages to people I knew in Columbus on LinkedIn every single day.
Over the last 3+ years, this has compounded into hundreds of warm relationships that have not just made my LIFE more enjoyable, but have had a downstream effect on the BUSINESS too.
Is this boring? Oh, hell yea.
But all of us can take a little bit of time every day to do something like this.
Our future selves will thank us. 😊
